Background relevant to Intelligent Buildings:
As a BS Architectural Engineering student, I have been exposed to building design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP and EQuest. I have a decent grasp on each type of software, some I know better than others. I've worked in environments which have utilized BIM software, Database, and basic Robotics.
My expectations for the Class:
I expect to learn about building automation technologies as well as learn more about Revit or any other BIM software to a reasonable degree. While the idea of learning about database was not obvious to me I can tell it will be a larger part of this class.
Initial definition of "Intelligent Buildings":
Before the first class lecture my idea of Intelligent Buildings was centered around BIM and the potential of the software to help create energy efficient, structurally sound and visually pleasing buildings while minimizing revisions of the plans during construction.
