3D printing can be broken down into two different system types. The first is called a 3D printer which is mainly used in an office environment. The second is 3D production system which its primary use is in laboratories. The materials used in 3D printing were originally limited to plastics, but now the range of materials are expanding to concrete, metal and chocolate in some instances. However, 3D printing is cost limited to larger corporations and engineering firms. This technology is being used by companies like Turner Construction and HDR for detailed modeling to win project bids.
Future advancements in the 3D printing technology will lead to the development in fields of 3D construction, space exploration, medical uses such as organ and limb growth. The Future holds great potential for 3D Printing and we believe it will be something we will see large scale in our life time.
